Inspiration
Sherwood is a bespoke sideboard inspired by the mood of medieval England — not as a costume, but as an atmosphere: candlelight, carved metal, the hush of old libraries, and the feeling that stories live inside objects. A line from the anonymous poem “Bryd one breere” (c.1300) is engraved along the top — a quiet signature that rewards anyone who comes close.
The exterior is deep and restrained, designed to hold space like a black velvet stage. Then the doors open — softly, like wings — and the piece reveals a warmer world within: calm compartments, clean order, and rich wood tones that feel collected over time. Brass details bring a noble glow, and the ornament reads like echoes of shields, manuscripts, and armour — used here as design language, not mysticism.
Sherwood is made to become the centre of a room: a conversation piece that still feels intimate. It belongs in a living room with art and books, in a studio where you want focus, or in a dining space where evenings stretch longer than planned. A luxury cabinet for people who want meaning — not noise. Designed and handcrafted in London.
Materials & Finishes
Sherwood is finished in a deep black tone with bespoke carved door patterns and polished brass inlays designed by Eugene Zalan. A German push-to-open mechanism releases the doors, which open smoothly to either side like wings. Inside, the cabinet is offered in two editions — a warm mahogany interior or a calmer, lighter finish — with storage that can be tailored for barware, serving pieces, or collectible objects. Two leg options complete the piece: turned oak legs painted to match the body, or a more sculptural stance for a sharper silhouette.
