Inspiration
Ruyi was born from clouds at golden hour — those slow, looping shapes you see when the sun drops low and the light turns everything into bronze. The carved circles are a quiet echo of ruyi cloud scrolls: a classical Chinese motif (如意) that symbolises auspicious fortune and “things going as you wish.”
In this piece, the cloud becomes structure. Matte black grounds the form like nightfall, while the brass flutes catch the last warm glow — a sunset trapped in metal. Ruyi is designed as a statement object, but it’s also calm: sculptural, balanced, and made to live with every day.
Materials & Finishes
Ruyi is a sculptural statement sideboard built from high-grade MDF, precision CNC-milled to create the signature circular relief. The surfaces are finished with a combined paint system: a deep dark body contrasted with gold-painted fluted panels, designed to catch warm light and emphasise the geometry. Solid wooden legs keep the silhouette light, while the interior is lined in a pale, golden-toned oak for a refined, luminous contrast when the doors open.
Two configurations are available. Ruyi Vinyl Edition is designed for record storage and listening setups, with organised compartments for LPs and accessories. Ruyi Bar Edition transforms the sideboard into an elegant home bar, with dedicated shelving for wine, glassware and serving essentials — all hidden behind a clean, architectural frontage. Both versions are made to order and can be specified with your preferred layout and finish options.
